Scorpion question

>The washer I got as part of my Scorpion set is much smaller than the "large teardrop" cutter; fine, no problem. On the other hand, it is barely smaller than the "small teardrop". My first reaction was to just not use it. When I looked closer, however, I saw that the cutting tip does stick out a bit, and I wondered if it would act like the shield on some other hollowing tools which adjust the aggressiveness of the tool. Has anybody tried this with the Scorpion? ...Gary
