Subject:
Apple graft burl Hollow form + brass wire *PIC*

Leo Van Der Loo
>Well this Appletree graft burl had already some splits in it when a friend of mine gave it to me, he said "I forgot all about this one", apparently had been sitting for a month or two already.
Anyway I still turned it and it just split all over, as you can see, it moved a lot while I was turning it, and had to use a hose clamp to keep the top neck together, wasn't able to get a even wall thickness as the wood just moved to much and to quick.
It's an attention-getter now I think, it was a bunch of work trying to get it a smooth finish after it had dried, but apple wood is a nice finishing wood, that helps.

Have fun and take care
