Subject:
First hollow vessel

keith zimmerman, Normal IL
>I have completed my first hollow vessel. It is made from Spalted Maple. It is approximately 5 1/2" in diameter and 3 1/2" high. the finish is Minwas Tung Oil Finish.

This vessel was turned using my 1/2" new Kelton hollowers mounted in a Don Pencil armbrace. I really like using the armbrace. It made it real easy to keep the hollowing tips at the proper presentation. I had no catches on this piece at all. I surprised myself.

I wound up using Carole's suggestion and turned a jamb chuck to fit the opening. It seemed to work quite well while finishing the bottom.

Thanks for looking.
