Subject:
Apple stem question.

Barry Irby
>I gave someone a bottle stopper made with one of Ruth Niles' stoppers. Their complaint was that the stopper made the bottle too tall for the refrigerator. So in an effort to make a "low profile" one, I tried turning and apple shape and hollowed the bottom and put the stopper up inside the apple. The apple sits down over the neck of the bottle.

Now for the question. The shaft of the stainless steel stopper came through the top of the apple, so I turned a little walnut plug and carved an apple stem on it. Anyone got a better Idea for an apple stem? I want something a little tougher. Perhaps a piece of cord?

Ps. Ruth, do you have any with a shorter shaft?
