Subject:
treadle lathe

>I've been asked to demonstrate old ways of turning at the Fall TACA fair using a foot powered lathe. I decided rather than fixing up my spring pole lathe I would build a treadle lathe. I thought I would update it slightly using an older 1 1/4"x 8 spindle that I have. This way I could use my faceplates if needed.

Anyone have any good ideas or plans. I downloaded Make Your Own Treadle Lathe by Steve Schmeck. It is a good plan and a complact unit. I'm just looking for other ideas to mull over before I get started. I've got to build this in the next week or so.
