Question

Barbara Gill, Remlik VA
>On another forum a sculpter asked a question about preventing checks. One respondent replied that normally turners harvest logs, seal with AnchorSeal and store for 1 year per inch of diameter. He also presented other options.

Has anyone ever heard of this? In my experience no matter how much AnchorSeal you put on the ends of logs, if you keep them around that long you will have a mess. In fact some of us would die before a 30" log was "ready". Also, most logs will not dry when whole except maybe after they had rotted.

No other respondent questioned the response.

I think he may have confused air drying lumber with turning wood.
