It's my "long tool rest" for when I rotate the headstock. Black pipe construction, filed to fit the banjo by holding in a chuck and "filing". Filled with cement to reduce "singing". Capped with a turned wooden plug.

The long end is supported by a wooden "deadman" with hole in it. Pic attached in next post.

P.S. I think it cost me $12 to build and a little bit of "layin' around stuff"...
