Subject:
For the Inventors Out There

Ric Taylor
>Many times when we complete the finishing process on our projects, we end up with a gloss finish. Sometimes that is planned and desired, sometimes it is not.

Often, turners will then use steel wool to reduce the gloss back towards a more matt finish. Many of us don't like to use steel wool for anything, for a variety of reasons. Wouldn't it be great if there was a buffing wheel and compound combination that could be used to reduce gloss to a matt finish instead of using steel wool? Perhaps a compound with a grit slightly more aggressive than tripoli.

Maybe there is something out there that I haven't heard of. Is anyone doing anthing like this?
