Subject:
Sticking Aluminum

Stuart Johnson
>I use a tailstock chuck adaptor to align segmented rings. The threaded portion is aluminum. When I try to use it with an anodized aluminum face plate it will screw on maybe 2/3 of the way and then sticks. If I use it on a steel faceplate there is no problem. Both faceplates screw onto the lathe just fine. It seems like the aluminum against aluminum is the problem. Any ideas on how I can fix the issue? Would some type of lubricant work?
