Jet Mini Ballast Headstock *PIC*

>John's recent posts finally prompted me to post one of my improvements.

This spring I was doing a lot of off-center turning that had my Mini dancing. My solution was to add some weight to the headstock and tailstock. The weights are lead cast in an aluminum mini-loaf pans and weigh about 10 pounds each. Two stove bolts run through the headstock weight and are anchored by a piece of flat steel bar stock in the bottom of the pan. The bolts extend beyond the base of the weight and through two holes in the headstock casting. Bolting the weight to the casting keeps it from doing its own dance and dropping on my toes.
