Subject:
Wooden collet chuck

Jeremy in LA
>Hi! I saw plans for a homemade wooden collet chuck in a magazine a few months back. Didn't buy the magazine, and I remember enough of the design to make my own. Does anyone have any wisdom/experience they'd like to share?
If I remember correctly, the general design is built to fit into a standard chuck, stepped on the outside with a hole in it, with four slots cut into the shape just like a regular collet. After that wooden rings would be fit onto the different steps on the outside, but I'm thinking I would just use two pipe ring clamps (the second just to counterbalance the first.) PS - this would obviously be for small stuff - some tops, maybe, and a tiny product I'm looking to mass-produce for a business associate. Thanks in advance! - Jeremy
