Subject:
Looking for experience on out board turning rests.

>I've got my Jet 1642 turning out some nice saw dust a couple of times a week but I want to do some larger, platter type stuff. The head stock will slide right down to the end of the bed so I'll have more clearance than I can ever imagine using. What I need help with is a tool rest for when I'm outboar/overboard.

Are there stand alone rests available? Would I be better off with somehting attached to the lathe to add stability? Anybody been down this road that wan't to warn me of any touble spots?

Thanks,
Bert (the overly ambitious)
