Turning Archive 2006
>Here is the inside out platter I finally got to photograph. I glued up the 4 square mahagony pieces and then inserted 2 36 sided rings of holly and yellow heart. Then I cut another groove and drilled 4 holes that intersected the groove. I filled this with clear Inlace that I colored black with india ink. Then I turned it a little, cut it into 4ths and reversed each piece 180 degrees. Then I turned a shallow bowl in the center.
I wish I had left it square instead of round. The holly had good contrast with the yellow heart until I put the finish on. Wish I had put black veneer between the yellow and white segments. fun and challenging to make but still needs more work to get where I want it to be.
