Turning Archive 2006

Whew! I am exhausted.

Keith Tompkins
>You have not heard much from me lately.....I had a BIG turning dilemma.. I was invited to make a piece for SOFA NY (Scuptural Objects Functional Art). SOFA is one of the premier shows of its kind in the world, and one of my ultimate goals was to have my work displayed there.

At the same time, I was juried into the "Design in Wood" Exhibition, referred to by Fine Woodworking Magazine as the country's largest and best woodworking exhibition. This year's theme is "Ride the Tide to Fun!" I figure my fish pieces would have a good chance there. HAD to do it!

Last, I am finishing up my Louisville demo props, etc, as well as my instant gallery pieces.....so my dilemma was: which show to go to, and which one to blow off; no time to do everything.

I ended up completing pieces for both shows....many 18 hour days, including the three day Memorial Weekend. I'm beat...but happy!

Five fishies done, three more to go.
