Drawknife as a lathe tool

>NO I didn't apply a drawknife to a spinning piece of wood.

I have starting learning to turn natural edge bowls. My first attempt would spin horribly in the spur drive. The drive would just sink into the bark/sap wood with out much holding power. I had an ah ha moment when pondering how to eliminate the problem. I took my second bowl blank and clamped it in my vise and used my drawknife to take out a section of bark and sap wood. The spur drive held great!

Just thought I'd share another use of hand tools in the power tool world.
