Subject:
First bowl started..

Phil Winn
>Started "turning" my first Ambrosia Maple bowl yesterday, used a
piece of Maple which has a moisture content (using a Wagner pinless meter with a specific gravity setting of 55--I am guessing on the SG setting) of 9.1% MC. I roughed-out the shape yesterday, leaving the wall thick...it started off being 4" tall and 10" (OD) wide....and now is 4" x 9 1/2" (OD) and party hollowed-out...
1. Should I wait ??days/weeks/months, before finishing it?
2. Should I do it in stages?
3. Twice duing the turning, the Oneway Talon slipped when my Glaser
gouge got "caught"---how tight does one tighten the Talon?
4. Any other suggestions?
Thanks,
Phil
