Turning Archive 2006
>I enjoy looking at pics others post here but since I rarely find time to turn anything for fun I thought I would post a pic of a lamp design I am working on. It is actually shaped on my disc sander but I pop it on a pin mounted on a faceplate and jam another pin with a sholder with the tailstock for a friction fit. I can then turn a bevel on the top course which holds the shade in place, don't want it to show as a shadow. I also take a skim cut and sand the body while it is on the lathe.
The lamp pictured is made from Monterey Cypress, a wonderful wood to turn. Finish is Deft and a coat of Trewax.
