Subject:
Time to upgrade? *PIC*

>About two years ago I installed an old Pentium II processor on my 1994 Delta variable speed lathe. It worked fine (except for some initial heat buildup, which I solved by upgrading the heat sink to the one you can see behind the top of the processor). Recently when I began experiencing some abnormal shutdowns. I only have 128K of memory, and think I may need more, but I have heard that Pentium IIs reach a max where memory helps at around 256K.

This leaves me with several options upgrade the processor, and then add memory, upgrade the lathe, or perhaps daisy chain two Pentium IIs.

Anyone else run into this?

Thanks!
Jim

BTW I am also interested in switching from Win 98 to Linux. Any thoughts?
