Subject:
Bandsaw tooth count / size for cutting bowl blanks

Shane Ferrell
>I am a new wood turner and want to know what the best combination for bandsaw blades is for cutting green bowl blanks. 6-12" arround, 2-8" thick, you know the free stuff you haul home from trees.

I had poor luck with a 1/2" x 4 hook, but it may have been dull to start with. 3/4" was too wide for some of the circles. I had better luck with 1/4" x 6 when it was brand new, but dulled quickly and is dangerous now. I am going to try 3/8" x 3 hook, but would like to know what others use as well.

Also what do you clean the pitch off the BS blade with?
