lathe quandry

>Hi everyone- I have something to run by you. I do a bit of turning for furniture, mostly chair parts. I have a couple of old PM 45 lathes, one which is 3 phase so I thought I would add variable speed to it. Meanwhile I am using the older single phase machine. I am moving in about a month or two, and am considering instead going with a brand new lathe. Should I just stick with fixing the 3 phase up, or go with a new lathe? I don't want to spend more than about 1500 on top of what I get out of my other lathes, and would prefer not to buy certain import machines. Any thoughts, suggestions, ideas? Thanks!!
