Turning Archive 2006

Subject:
Going thru a Sophomore slump, I guess.

David
>When I was a beginning turner, I had some pieces that really turned out great--actually beyond my expectations. Now that I know a little more and have more turning under my belt, I am experiencing a lot more failures--going through bottoms, walls too thin, wood with a mind of its own, etc. Yes I can look back and say that I am a better turner, and I know a lot more thanks to my lurking on the Pond and the great generosity and helpfulness in this great group. With a new lathe I guess I am expecting a lot more from myself, but as we all know, there will not be a success each time out. There may be a lot of strike outs now, but wait, I am still swinging, and there may be some home runs in my future yet...
