Drying Ebony

>Yesterday, I took possession of 5bf of 8/4 Gabon Ebony (at $70bf). The ends are sealed, but it feels like it is not dry. I will be slicing it lengthwise into 1.5" & 2" x 3/8" strips for segmented work. Anybody have a good idea how long I should let it set after cutting to dry?

Also considering putting it in a cabinet with a light bulb in it to act as a kiln.

Thoughts?
