*** Turning Contest Deadline Extended *** *PIC*

Ellis Walentine
>Good morning, folks. I wanted to check in and try to get an idea of how many of you plan to enter our "Two Board Feet" turning contest. I know there were some initial concerns about how to calculate the amount of wood in the project. This needn't be a stumbling block to entering the contest, as close is good enough.

How you calculate it -- whether by measurements or fancy arithmetic or even weighing it -- isn't the point. The intent of the contest is to see how creative you can get with a small amount of wood, as long as the lathe is part of the process.

I have extended the deadline to the end of March to give you all more time to complete your entries. If we don't get at least 25 entries, we'll extend the deadline again if necessary.

Please let me know if there is anything else you think we should consider to boost participation in this contest. And give me some ideas for future contests while you're at it. We have some great sponsors who are committed to turning excellence.

Cheers and thanks,
Ellis Walentine, Host
