Groundbreaking for studio at JCCampbell

>Just to let you know, we broke ground last week for a new woodturning studio at John C. Campbell Folk School. It will be named in honor of Willard Baxter, a man who did so much to promote woodturning in our area. It has been a grass roots movement with many gifts from individuals and AAW guilds. Right now, we are closing in on 200K with about 25 K more dollars to raise. Woodturning is one of the main areas of focus at the school with folks like Dale Nish, Trent Bosch, Michael Mocho just to name a few providing excellent teaching within the context of amazing community. Last week, Nick Cook did an advanced class on platters and the group of 10 students were superb. If you are not familiar with Campbell, go to the website at www.folkschool.com for a look at the offerings. It is different than Arrowmont, Penland, and Anderson Ranch. Each has it's own unique spirit, although I really love Campbell. This is one more great resource for our woodturning community. I know that Willard would be proud of his legacy.
