Subject:
Riser Blocks??

George (Oxford, NC)
>I want to raise the bed of my lathe about 5-6" to bring it to elbow height. I can use two 6" square blocks or four 2"x6" (one under each pair of mounting holes). The question is though, what to use to make these 6" tall. I am thinking of laminating 2x4 stock (four layers). Is pine too soft? Using 8/4 hardwood seems a waste of good 8/4 stock. Other suggestions?
