Stubby Bearings - - follow-up

>After reducing the belt tension and backing off the toothed locknut on my Stubby 500, I roughed out a bowl today. To make a long story short, it worked. There was no real heat in the headstock. It was less than I would have expected in any lathe. Needless to say, I was quite pleased. The reduced belt tension was probably the big factor in the improvement. Of course, when I was agressive it slowed down. Before, it would not have slowed. I'll take that in exchange for no heat problems.

Thanks to each who provided help in my earlier thread.
