Adding ballast to Jet mini stand

It is steady as a rock but when a peice is a bit out of round there is a bit of vibration. On my other lathe there is a shelf that I have loaded with cast iron, cement, etc.
I have been experimenting with attaching some cast iron plate pieces to the jet mini. Zip tie attached to the center support at this point.
Before I drill, should they be higher or lower than the center support?
Or, is this type of stand just going to vibrate.
I can usually find a speed that vibrates less until I get things round, but a bit of dampening might help.
thanks,

Mark.
