Subject:
Ebony? This wood is a rich brown, ...

Ed Moore in SW Virginia
>with black streaks and is sort of a cordovan, and there was a smell of cinnamon while I was turning a box out of it. It came from a box of ebony cut-offs from a commercial source. It turned like ebony and the dust on my arms felt like ebony. But it was not the usual black ebony with a little brown that I have seen. It is not Macassar ebony, nor is it cocobolo.

I waxed the box and it took a beautiful dark shine. The coloring is obscured now so a picture wouldn't help.

Any ideas?
