>I think you have to remember that people join and attend or don't attend club meeting for numerous personal reasons. Some are new and are looking for help in getting started. Turning is a solitary affair for the most part and for some the social aspect of the club is important. More experienced turners may be looking for new techniques. I have been in my club 7 - 8 years and seen a lot of new members join, attend a year or so and are gone. We do a very poor job of dealing with new turners. Clubs tend to be run by experienced turners and maybe they program to their interests.
