>Back when I was growing up, we played in the woods all year round and rarely got ticks. Now you can't even walk within 2 feet of the woods without getting the darn things. What's different between then and now? DEER!!! Deer were pretty rare here in the 50's. Today you can hit'em with a stick everywhere you turn and they are infested with ticks. We really need to get the deer population under control. And I won't even mention what they are doing to crops now - total destruction!
Another big tick carrier that has made a big comeback here in the past 10 years is turkeys.
