>I use mineral oil because it's cheap, easy, and replenishable without taking the bowl out of service. You can drink it straight from the bottle, but I highly recommend you don't (unless you want to find out why!)

I also use beeswax if I want it to be a bit shiny,but it doesn't last. You can eat that too, but it's not too tasty.
