We are both correct! Sine and cosine curves are identical - they are just out of phase by pi/2 (90deg).

I actually started at [0,0] on the left side of the square block and drew one complete sine cycle across the width. (the magenta curve in the little plot below) Shaping the outside cut away more of the left side of the curve then the right due to the wider diameter of the goblet at the further down from the top. In addition, hollowing took off far more of the "hump" at 90deg than I initially expected.

Like the inside-out turnings, visualizing the result in advance can be tricky!
