Seems motor oil isn't too bad on a saw. Just have to make sure there is enough.

Have used bar oil in mine most of the time, although discovered last winter while cutting some blanks, the thick gooey oil wasn't pumping very well, so I switched to some cheap 30W and that worked fine.
