I assume this is Big Leaf Maple ?

I make a fair number of very delicate small-footed hollow forms, and I'm always struggling to decide just how small the foot should be. My art sense leads me toward a small foot, like this, then my Vulcan logic reminds me of how often they fall over and are damaged in galleries, or craft events -- how do we resolve this ?

I am now inclined make small feet only on things that are going into high-end galleries, where they will be protected, and can only be handled with sales assistance, and larger feet with more mass toward the bottom for other situations.

I wonder how the rest of the hollow-form world has resolved this.

Safe spinning,
