I have been playing with styrofoam to try to picture this--if I understand you correctly,when you go to cut the parallelograms into rectangles (step 3), you have to set them on the table saw so the parallelogram faces are on top and against the table and cut so that the lamination between the black and white wood runs at an angle to the edges. (correct?)

If so, then you must need to start with a thicker lamination than the zig-zag ring you end up with?

Guess I better go clean up the styrofoam & start figuring out how to make some sleds & jigs!!
