>Hi Dick,

I actually don't use linseed oil (boiled or otherwise) on any food utensil. In those cases I use either nothing, canola oil (or some other cooking type oil) or an epoxy finish. I have not heard of any cautions against using boiled linseed oil on food utensils, however, like you, if anybody knows anything about that I'd be interested in hearing about it also.

The finishing compound that I mentioned is concocted partially on info I received from you some time ago. In fact, I have yours written down and filed. I started using a half and half mix of Minwax finishing wax and boiled linseed oil a few years ago on carvings but I didn't really like it very well. When I saw your mix, I decided to try adding mineral spirits to what I had been using and, voila, it works fine. The mineral spirits keep the whole shebang fluid and makes the application much easier.
