Turning Archive

John, You are bringing back some old memories. I have done a ton of flat work decades ago before I rediscovered turning. Now I remember why I like turning so much. Im sure. with your retirement, it is a luxury to have the time to tackle such a complex project...but I enjoy turning so much more I would never go back to cutting and gluing and joinery of a flat project. There is a lot of satisfaction from solving all the obstacles you encounter, and getting it done right in your gun case, I just dont want to go there again. It seems OK for me to spend weeks carving on my torso forms, so its not the time involved I guess, it's just the flat work process that I am not drawn to anymore. I try to follow the fun trail. Your cabinet takes tremendous skills and would be challenging and exciting, but not fun for me. Ill get my enjoyment from watching you do it. Thanks for sharing it with us.
