Dogwood is indeed an interesting wood to turn. It is very hard but turns beautifully. It was commonly used for shuttles in the weaving industry and a few years ago I obtained a bunch of shuttle blanks that were very old and very dry and very hard. Still turned well.

Your bottle is a stylized version of a ginger jar I would say. Must have been fun hollowing. Nice work.
