BL Maple "Compote" *PIC*Don Leydens
Some talk about burl caps and Terry Scott's photos got me to finally throw this on the lathe and just make something out of it. Big Leaf Maple that I hoped to save the spikes on, but it just wasn't in the cards. It was suggested to me on another site that I call this a compote, so I'm going with that. Anyway, it's dyed black (heavy around the edges), red and yellow. The pedestal is from another piece of scrap maple burl. 7.5" tall x 7.5" wide at the rim, 1/16 thick and finished with tung oil and nervously Beall buffed. All comments are always more than welcome and thanks for looking, Don
