I rigged this up to glue together 2 of the groups. I'll try it on the larger group tomorrow. I adjusted the bottom clamps until the bottom of the joint closed and the top was slightly open. Then I put the 2 clamps on to push down which closed the top. The downside is I don't know if it's opening up at the bottom. I checked both ends and they looked closed.
I think I'll rig it up with more all thread rod going vertical with a wooden bar across the top so the whole clamping system can be picked up. That will let me view the bottom to make sure the joint is closed and I can wipe up glue so I won't have to clean that off afterwords.
You can see the first half sitting on the floor. This was glued up with tape and was really a hassle.
