I am with you. I don't see the need for the distinction between the sexes when it comes to almost any activity.

One of the great joys in my life was when I worked with kids in the 10-14 year old range and taught them all how to use portable drills, jigsaws, hammers, screwdrivers, etc. It was very rewarding to see the little girls who were initially intimidated fight for the chance to use the tools.

I have coached boys and girls in lots of things and the only limitations I have seen for either group are those they place upon themselves.
