Any idea what is brewing in this piece? *PIC* () Lyle Jamieson
Dave, the spalting is the start of the decay process. It is nature taking its course, dust to dust. If you dont use this wood it will turn to mush very shortly in warm weather. Get it turned right away. Spalting/decay takes three things, moisture, heat, and the spores which are already in the wood. When you turn it and dry it, that stops the decay process. The plastic bag and heat just accelerate it.
