Turning Archive

I've been collecting skews lately and building a few I don't have. I've been playing with shapes a grinds for a bunch of years now. I'm going to spend some time turning with all 12 that I have here shortly to try and learn why I like some over others. I thought I'd ask your opinions.
I probably should post a photo of them so you can see the differences but I'm at work and that won't happen until later tonight.
So far my opinion is that practice with whatever you have is more important than shape. However some shapes do offer advantages for certain types of cuts or situations. Anyway I would appreciate the opinions.
Also if you have a preferred grind angle. What I'm talking about is the angle measured from bevel to bevel so that we are talking the same lingo. Most of mine seem to end up around 35 degrees.
