many injuries happen in a split second

I never understand this? ()

Almost everyone I know who has been injured on the bandsaw or table saw simply moved a hand into the blade with a moment of inattention. maybe they were clearing away debri, or reaching past the blade for something. that's why I try to stay scared of it. I have a rule, stare at the blade. I hope that buy staring at the blade I am constantly aware of where it is and where my hands are. It's worked so far but all it takes is a split second.
