I've posted - again - an illustrated step by step of the method I used to turn these mini pieces, along with shots of the tools. It's NOT HARD to turn small - if you have a steady hand.

If an old bayonet saw blade with the teeth ground off to use as a 1/8" parting tool is a special cool tool . . .

If a 1/4" steel rod crudely ground a bit for hollowing is a cool tool . . .

Honest, you don't need any "special tools" to turn small. Good vision and fine motor skills are far more important.
