Re: ***SURVEY: THE IDES OF MAY***

Love of wood working and turning both came from seventh and eight show. Wonderful teacher.
Still have the first thing I ever turned. It was a salt and pepper shaker set with a holder and a handle. I gave it to mom for a gift. Found it in the back of a kitchen cabinet when we closed up her house. I tried to throw it out but my wife came by just at that moment and asked what that was in the basket. I responded it was the first thing I ever turned. " You can't throw that out," she said. Since I always listen to my wife, we still have it and it is brought out on occasion. The moral of the story is to beware of what you let your wife talk you into keeping.
Our club does demos at all of the schools here in Flathead Valley. They all have good programs though the turning aspect is somewhat limited. Mostly because none of the teachers are turners. The kids sure make some really great projects and the skill level is very good at all the schools.
