I have not tried these but instead use miniature files which I like. They last a long time.
One that I have is an aluminium handle with collet. Handle is about 3/8" diameter and the files fit in the storage area in the top. Also have a set of (actually several sets) of rifflers, files and rifflers from miniature to larger sizes.
www.ptreeusa.com also sells sanding sticks that has abrasive on two sides and flat files double sided and both have foam in middle, use lot of them also.
On the mandles for rotary that Jen pointed out, you can also get them at any carving specialty and although they are made for rotary I used them lots of times by hand.
Good tip on the skewers also Jen.
