John get some bamboo kabob skewers at the grocery and use some 3-M spray adhesive to attach a thin strip of your desired grit to it. Just lay them flat and roll the strip on. They're sort of flexable, can be cut to length and you get about 20 of them for about $2. Great for stuff like this!
