Being some thing resembling a guitar player, I read extensively about this shortly after it happened. One problem is 'certified' lumber can often come from 'uncertified' sources, so even if you buy from a certified source, not all of it is true. Another problem is some times the certification is bogus, and is just a piece of paper from a nobody.

It was a mess before the government got involved, and that only made it worse.
