....tools, and would recommend the bowl gouge to be a 5/8," and later add a 1/2" bowl gouge to the collection. Be aware that the English gouges are measured by flute width, and much of the rest of the world measures tools by the diameter of the tool steel. And as stated, the best tools are sharp tools, so learn to sharpen well, and invest in good sharpening equipment such as a Wolverine jig set-up with the Woodcraft 8" slow speed grinder.
